On May 18th, many Biology faculty and students participated in the NC DNA Day 5k and Festival. The event was held to raise funds to support North Carolina DNA Day – an annual event to inspire and educate the next generation of scientists, to support North Carolina science teachers, and to bridge the gap between North Carolina’s leading research enterprises and high school science classrooms.

Several Biology members took place in the 5k, with professors such as Jason Lieb and Bob Duronio at the front the pack. Following the race, many Biology labs set up booths for the festival. The Kingsolver lab demonstrated the effect of temperature on caterpillars, while the Goldstein lab taught kids all about tardigrades. They were joined by many other excellent booths!
